Diabetes is divided into two types mainly type 1 and type 2. Type 2 diabetic people do not show any signs and symptoms of the disease so it is advised that they go screening test after the age of 45.
The initial symptoms are related to blood sugar levels i.e. high blood sugar levels. When the blood sugar levels rises above 160 to 180 mg/dL the glucose passes into the urine. When the level is even higher the kidneys excretes additional water. Due to this a person excretes large amounts of water i.e. urination is a common symptoms of diabetes.
To compensate the body requires water, so excessive thirst is natural. A person losses weight because of calories loss in urine. Type 1 diabetic people lose weight easily compared to type 2 diabetic people.
The signs and symptoms developed in type 1 diabetes are abrupt and rapid leading to a condition known as ketoacidosis. In spite of high presence of glucose the cells in the body cannot utilize it properly this makes the fats to break down producing ketones in and other chemical toxin substances leading to blood acidic.
The symptoms of ketoacidosis are excessive thirst and urination, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and abdominal pain especially in children. The breathing smells like nail polish remover. In ignored cases of ketoacidosis it leads to coma, and death.
Even if treatment are given with insulin doses people with type 1 diabetes lead to ketoacidosis due to infection or accident or serious medical conditions.
The initial stages for type 2 diabetes are increased thirst and urination and they get worsen. Most of the times the diabetes goes unrecognized and as insulin deficiency increases symptoms develops.
People with diabetes need to take food rich in fiber content. Well balanced diet with proper nutrition values should be considered. Diet should not be excessive rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
Fruits and vegetables rich in fiber are apple, bananas, apricot, dates, raisins, carrot, beans, broccoli, peas.
Diabetes is mainly due to sedentary kind of lifestyle. People with diabetes need to take part in physical activities like running, swimming, skipping.
