With the economy not doing so well, some people have been forced to cancel their exercise club memberships because of the cost. When times are difficult and items have to be cut from your budget, an expensive fitness club membership is one of the first things to get cut. Many will also consider buying equipment so that you can exercise at home such as a home exercise machine, but they can be too costly as well. If you work at it, there are ways to save money while exercising at home and getting in shape. You don’t have to put out money to stay in shape.
The most helpful piece of equipment to have in your home fitness area would probably be dumbbells. Having a few can help you perform a huge variety of workouts. As a fill-in, I used a pair of large laundry detergent bottles. After I had used them for laundering purposes, I recycled the bottles by filling them with water and adding them to my fitness routine.
Simply add the amount of liquid it takes to find the desired weight required for your exercise and use the bottles as if they are dumbbells. The handles that are build into detergent bottles also makes a wonderful grip for you to easily hold on to while exercising. Using your homemade dumbbells, you can enact dozens of different exercises. To add even more to your list, take a broomstick and put your bottles on the ends to recreate a barbell with weights.
If you already use cable television, use it fully by recording some awesome workouts from FitTV or other networks dedicated to health and fitness. My cable provider also has workouts available free on demand that I use. By having so many varieties with different styles, my workouts never gets repetitive. If cable TV is something that you already pay for, it would be foolish to not take advantage of this great resource.
Using the internet doesn’t have to be a lethargic activity. Head on over to youtube and take a look at the thousands of exercise and weight loss videos on the site. They are made for all skill levels and enables someone to come along and try an activity out for the first time or to learn something new about an activity they already perform. I tried yoga for the first time by learning from someone on youtube and now I do it at least four times a week. You do have to be careful for those that don’t know what they are talking about. A bit of quick research is important to see if they are correct.
I’m sure you are curious about how these ideas can turn into big time results. Without proper diet, you will not see big results. For starters, simply start cutting bad things out your diet such as desserts, candy, soda, etc. and take the money you would normally have spent on those items and put them aside as your exercise fund for down the line. You will be consuming less calories, seeing bigger results and saving for the future. Start thinking about biking, walking and jogging more to save on gasoline for your car.
All of these little additions to your daily routine can really add up over a couple months. If you don’t see results right away, don’t get frustrated. Keep it up. When you’ve saved up enough, invest in some inexpensive and versatile home fitness gym equipment like an adjustable dumbbells set, resistance bands or an exercise ball. Adding new pieces of equipment sporadically will keep you engaged as well as keeping your body from getting too complacent with the same old exercises.
Fitness and health are one of the few things in life that you don’t have to pay for, so take advantage of these free ways to get in shape. Add one or all of the mentioned ideas to help shape your future as a healthier and fitter person.
