For most women menopause begins around age 45, with the process completing approximately seven to ten years later, depending upon the women. However, one woman out of every one hundred experience early menopause symptoms. Depending on the age of the woman, these symptoms can be misinterpreted or missed completely, especially if the woman is very young. Here are some of the signs to watch for to detect early menopause.1- The most commonly noticed early menopause symptom is irregular bleeding. However, this is the most unpredictable symptom as well; it is different for every woman. Some women experience occasional bleeding, excessive bleeding or irregular menstrual cycles with more or less time between them. It is very common among premenopausal women to miss one or more menstrual cycles and then have one or two in a row, only to start missing them again.

A Few Common Early Menopause Symptoms: Hot Flashes:Hot flashes are among the most popular symptoms that women experience. About 75 to 85 percent of menopausal women will have hot flashes, also referred to as night sweats if they occur while trying to sleep at night. This is true no matter if the menopause is early or happens around the normal time. This sign is more prevalent if your menopause begins prior to turning 50 years old. Women who have had an induced menopause are much more likely to experience hot flashes, as close to 90 percent of these women experience them.

It is now being thought that the changes in mood may be more directly related to the lack of sleep that some women experience because of night sweats. Insomnia:Having trouble sleeping is another of the most common early menopause symptoms that you are likely to face. Tossing and turning is prevalent for women during this phase of their life. Night sweats can make it too uncomfortable to get a good night’s sleep. However, these symptoms can also occur without the presence of hot flashes at night. It is also possible for you to begin having sleep disturbances up to five years prior to showing any other early menopause symptoms. To cope with insomnia and other sleep difficulties that arise, avoid drinking caffeine, especially 3 to 4 hours before bed. Exercise earlier in the day so that your body will be a bit tired and ready to relax at night. Wind down with a nice, hot bath or glass or warm milk. Keeping a cool bedroom can also reduce these early menopause symptoms if they are promoted by night sweats.

Physical changes are extremely common during menopause. Women may experience headaches, weight gain, sore joints, achy muscles, a burning sensation in the mouth or on the tongue, digestive problems, bleeding around the teeth and gums, itchy and dry skin, and stiffness. All of these conditions are in some way related to the changing hormones in the body. For example, the drop in estrogen results in the body producing collagen at a much slower rate. Menopause is a normal and expected change in a woman’s life. The symptoms may be extreme at times, but typically they pass quickly.
