If you have been experiencing frustration with your skin care routine, then maybe your methods are not meant for your skin type. The wrong skin care routine is more common than you realize. It is important that you choose care methods and products that are created for your skin type. So, if your skin is sensitive or damaged or oily or dry or a combination of any of the above, you should be able to find a good and proper way to take care of the skin you have. However, there are some very common mistakes that get made even by people who do everything else in the routine correctly.

People with oily skin have a specific set of challenges that they need to overcome every day. Your skin care needs to be very basic. Use a gentle cleanser and plain water to wash your face a few times each day. Don’t go overboard when you wash. Don’t use a lot of soap and don’t scrub too hard because this can take all of the natural oil off of your skin.

Exfoliating is just as important as cleansing and moisturizing for your skin. That means removing the dead skin cells from your face. Believe it or not, but that is an important and necessary step to produce that glowing skin look. If you aren’t removing these dead cells regularly you are setting yourself up to an acne breakout. Minimize further skin damage by using only all natural exfoliating agents.

Dry skin typically means sensitive skin too. With this skin type it’s important to be extra careful not to let your skin become too dry. It’s extra important to moisturize naturally in the winter months to avoid dry skin in the cold weather, do this naturally to avoid those harsh chemical products you might find on the market today. Most commercial products also contain a degree of petroleum products or mineral oils that should not be used on the face instead seek out natural safe alternatives.

Your face and your body both need to have the right products for their skin type no matter what that type might be. You will likely have to experiment a while to get the best ones that work for you. This should not be a matter of contention for you, don’t let it get you down. In order to get the best results once you’ve found the right product you’ll want to stick with it long term.
