They are a dark brown or black color with a shiny body and move generally slower than the other cockroaches. They are sometimes called the “waterbug” because they like to live in damp, dark areas. They are most likely seen in damp mulch or cellars. Incubation can last 2 months with about 15 eggs hatching and they can each live for up to 2 years.
