Why do golfers need to workout? Golf is a strenuous game and golfers need to be fit to withstand a whole day of walking, swinging and continuous hitting of a ball. There are different types of equipment available for golfers.

The simple act of a golf swing looks easy but it actually makes use of 32 major muscle groups. Most gyms don’t have the golfer in mind when it comes to workouts and that’s sad because golf is a very physical sport and golfers should always be energetic. What can you do to maximize your output and strengthen these muscle groups?

The ideal time in a gym for a golfer is a 30 minute session, 4 to 5 times a week. While there are many exercises, not all these have to be completed for each session.

One gym session for golfers can probably concentrate on the arms abdomen, legs and back. The next sessions can concentrate on other parts commonly used in golf. What is important is that after each workout, consisting of 12 to 20 reps, you should have completed a stretch exercise.

This should correspond with a muscle group you are concentrating on. The effect of this is the free flow of blood to the muscles, thus encouraging good stamina and a flexible body.

Working under a trainer is wise because he is knowledgeable on the proper ways of exercising. There are a number of exercises meant for golfers. The most popular is the bogey and the seated row. In the fairways, good posture contributes to a good game.

Golfers need not carry weights. The following, however, can be tried: triceps dip, dumbbell, shoulder press and other equipment that tone the arms. Simple leg extensions may regularly be done as this makes the legs strong.

The repetitive dumbbell shoulder press will give you strong shoulders. Your trainer knows best. Abdominal machines also offer the most benefit. A good swing that doesn’t hurt is the product of a good workout.
