Right after you finish exercising there is a race going on. This race involves getting as many carbohydrates back into your active tissues as possible.

Unfortunately, many fitness hopefuls do not know how to do this.

Thus, without further ado, here is how to get more carbohydrates into your active tissues after exercise:

1. Have some simple sugars before you begin: Having some simple sugars is a great way to prevent your blood sugar from dropping in the middle of your workout. This in turn will allow you to exercise with the level of intensity required for the best carb absorption.

2. Deplete your glycogen stores while training: The best way to make your muscles absorb more carbohydrates is by depleting their glycogen stores when you are exercising. This in turn will get your cells to absorb more.

3. Have some caffeine before your workout: Caffeine will increase your mental alertness and it will blunt pain. And the less you pain you feel the easier it will be to push past the barriers for completely depleting your muscles of carbs.

4. Have a liquid meal immediately after training: Your number one goal after intense training is to get carbohydrates and very small amounts of protein right back into your muscles as quickly as possible. The best way to do this is with liquid nutrition.

5. Have a solid meal shortly after your liquid meal: This will help get a more controlled amount of nutrients into your muscles once your body has digested the liquid meal, and this happens quickly. So don’t let more than thirty minutes go by.

6. Balance your solid meals: Having more balance in your solid meals will help your muscles absorb more nutrients. This in turn will increase your glycogen stores. If you have liquid calories you will digest them too quickly.

Getting more carbohydrates into your muscles after training is a great way to accelerate your progress and caloric burn!
